Why Make? Episode 80: Forensic Art with Joyce Lin
In a first for this podcast we talked about anticlines and synclines , geologic terms for folded rock forms, and conceptual sculpture in the same conversation. And that would be with this episodes guest Joyce Lin an artist at heart but one who has dual degree’s in both furniture design and geology. An odd pairing it might seem at first but once you delve into Joyce’s work of deconstructed chairs and her log objects or log-jects it makes perfect sense. Her work is about peeling back the layers that make an object and revealing it’s inner story. Not unlike how a road cut through a mountain reveals the layers of rock that tell the story of how that mountain was formed. It is a journey into forensic art dissecting the past to tell weave a tale about process, structure and time.
